Team Description & Purpose of Role

The role of Solutions Engineer has been created in a fast-moving and well respected Solutions Engineering department within the company. The team is responsible for developing cutting edge solutions whilst maintaining scalability and cost efficiency for customers and solutions all over the globe. 

Our innovative Unified Connectivity Solutions team engages with the company potential and existing clients both large and small, dealing with connectivity requirements ranging from small numbers of simply connected locations, through to complex global networks that require connections to cloud services and NFV deployments specifically tailored to their requirements. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply and increase their knowledge and experience in Networking, Virtualisation, Security, WAN Optimization, SDN, NVF, IaaS and other cloud related technologies. 

This is the ideal role for someone with an intense drive to learn and become a subject matter expert in any of the aforementioned fields building on their strong industry foundations and expert IP and MPLS Knowledge. 

Job Responsibilities

• Maintaining the highest level of technical expertise relevant to the role 


• Integrate bespoke customer requirements into existing developed products and solutions 


• Act as technical authority for standard products 


• Produce High and low level designs 


• Develop, test and document innovative bespoke designs 


• Support the sales community with technical and design clarity for any particular solution or product 


• Act as support within larger projects, testing and documenting prototype designs. 


• Present technical solutions to Enterprise customers. 


• Complete all internal documentation required for associated teams to deliver the solution. 


• Ensure opportunities are winnable and deliverable, a fit for the customer and beneficial to the company 

Person Specification

Essential Criteria: 

• Deep Understanding of IP, BGP, MPLS and MBGP 


• Fluency in Cisco Router Configuration for MPLS, 


• Deep understanding of the flow of a data packet across the network and the processing upon that packet at any point within that network as it relates to each layer in the stack. 


• Experience configuring Cisco Routers in a multi-VRF MPLS environment 


• A thorough understanding of Routing protocols. 


• A willingness to learn 


• Market and industry awareness 

Desirable Criteria: 

• Some programming/coding experience 


• An understanding security technologies as they apply to the current network industry 


• An understanding of virtualization 


• Experience with WAN Optimization 


• Customer facing experience 


• The ability to make an early assessment of man-time required for projects (Lab or Implementation) 


• Fluency in JUNOS 

Other Similar Job Functions: 

Ideally you would have had 4 years or more experience in one of the following job functions: 

Technical Customer Support(MPLS), Network Engineer, Solutions Architect or similar
