Cloud Architect - Security

Team Description & Purpose of Role

VDC Architecture is responsible for the technical design, development, documentation and release to Operations of the clients Virtual Data Center (VDC) cloud platform.

Job Responsibilities

• Design and development of the clients cloud platforms 

• Continuous improvement of the existing cloud products and platforms 

• Work with product management and other product architecture teams to manage the cloud and hosting roadmaps 

• Last resort operational support for the clients VDC cloud platform 

• Coach junior architects and engineers 

Experience Required

• Broad cloud and hosting experience spanning networking, virtualization, security and operating systems 

• Excellent understanding of network security concepts, including ones specific to cloud and virtual environments 

• Familiarity with Agile and Scrum working environments 

• Excellent technical understanding of virtualized environments running on VMware, KVM and Xen hypervisors 

• Demonstrable experience building and administering networks utilising the following technologies: 

o TCP/IP and basic static and dynamic routing principles 

o Layer 2 network design including various STP flavours 

o Physical and virtual firewalls and appliances including the Cisco ASAv and the Checkpoint Security Gateway Virtual Edition 

o F5 Load Balancers and modules including the GTM, LTM, APM 

o Arbor based DDOS mitigation 

o SDN concepts 

o Knowledge of MPLS networking would be advantageous

Person Specification

• You are an excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical people. 

• You are able to work to tight timescales, either alone or as a member of a larger team. 

• You are a responsible individual with a desire to take ownership of a problem and see it through to resolution. 

• You have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical field of study.
